The Rensselaer Engineers defeated the RIT Tigers 2‒0 and 3‒0 for their first two wins of the season, snapping a 13-game losing streak carried over from last year. RPI’s Marah Wagner and Ellie Kaiser both tallied three points in the two-game set. Goaltender Amanda Rampado recorded 42 saves in the shutouts.

Lakers drown Engineers late in back-to-back games

The Engineers dropped their first two home games of the season to the Mercyhurst Lakers, bringing their record to 0‒6‒0. Hannah Price scored the Engineers’ only goal of the weekend, and Amanda Rampado made a combined 62 saves on 66 shots for a 0.939 save percentage. Rensselaer returns to the Houston Field House for a two-game set against RIT on October 21 and 22 at 3 pm.

Fourth-quarter comeback stuns Statesmen

Quarterback Jake Kazanowsky connected with DJ Palmer for two fourth-quarter touchdowns to mount a staggering 14-point comeback, defeating the Hobart Statesmen 16‒13 to remain undefeated in the Liberty League. The Rensselaer defense continued their solid form as third in Division III in total defense and fifth in scoring defense, holding the visitors to 201 yards of total offense and forcing a safety.

Black Knight Down: Walsh snipes three past Army

TJ Walsh recorded a hat trick and an assist in the Engineers’ 7‒4 victory over the Army West Point Black Knights. Jack Agnew tallied three assists, Lauri Sertti and Jakob Lee both with two as well, and John Evans and Max Smolinksi netted their first collegiate goals. The win brings Rensselaer’s record to 4‒0‒0, the best start to an RPI season since 1999.

Engineers show no mercy against Lakers on homecoming weekend

The Rensselaer Engineers beat the Mercyhurst Lakers 6‒3 in their home opener after netting a goal 33 seconds in and converting on both of their first two power plays. Jakob Lee finished the night with five points on two goals and three assists, Jake Gagnon with three points on a goal and two assists, and Ryan Mahshie with two goals. In the game the following night, RPI’s Jack Brackett buried an overtime winner to take the contest 3‒2.

Third period blues for Engineers

The Toronto Varsity Blues grabbed a game-winning goal with six minutes remaining to defeat the Engineers 2‒1. This was Rensselaer’s last game before their season opener against Mercyhurst on October 7. Goaltenders Brett Miller and Carson Cherepak registered 14 and seven saves, respectively, in the defeat. Sutter Muzzatti netted his first goal in an RPI sweater off an assist from Jack Brackett.
