Mueller Center Fixes

Keeping campus updated after floor

Hello RPI!

Are you ready for this weekend? The men’s hockey team takes on their first round in the playoffs right here at home! Fighting against Brown University in a best-of-three matchup, our boys will be fighting tooth and nail. All games start at 7 pm and run Friday through Sunday. Get your tickets up at the Field House while you still can! I know I’m pumped and can’t wait for another opportunity to bring out my red!

I know I’ve been fielding a lot of questions regarding the Mueller Center lately. As of now, I have been updating the public through the Facebook page “Overheard at RPI,” the RPI subreddit, and Yik Yak myself. We’ve also had Erica Lawson updating the Mueller Center Twitter whenever updates arise. I want to once again thank the staff for all their tireless work. They have really stepped up to the plate to get us back on our feet as quickly as possible. We are in the home stretch now, and hope to be open again soon. Trust me, we want to be open as much as you want us to be, and we’ll let you know when we are!

Last week, there wasn’t too much on the Executive Board agenda, but there is one last big project I’ll be undertaking in my time in office. Starting Thursday, February 25, I began soliciting ideas for projects to improve the Rensselaer Union facilities. I have assigned E-Board reps to certain buildings to generate ideas for improvements that can be started before the end of the fiscal year, due to the strong financial position of the Union. This will allow us to address some longer-standing issues as well as provide improvements for the largest number of students. If you have ideas for projects or would like to get involved, please shoot me an email!

March also marks the beginning of campaigning for the next elections, which will occur during Grand Marshal week in April. If you are interested in running for a position, there will be an election handbook available soon and you can get in contact with the Rules & Elections Committee. If anyone is curious about the roles and responsibilities of the President of the Union or of the E-Board, please feel free to ask me any questions or advice at my office hours Monday and Thursdays noon–1 pm, during Pub Chats Wednesdays 6–8 pm, or email me at pu@rpi.edu. This will mark the end of our 125th anniversary celebration, so be ready for some awesome events and big celebrations!
