PSS: smashing pumpkins

ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS AT RPI HELD their first Pumpkin Chunkin’ event on the ’86 Field. Students designed machines to launch pumpkins as far as possible. The machine had to be within a 5’x5’x5’ dimension and not use external power or compressed air. The winner was Team Squash Gargler, pictured above, with their machine Chi Phi See Saw and 295 foot throw.
