As a part of the Women’s History Speaker series, RPI welcomes distinguished Professor and author Leonore Tiefere. Located in Sage 4101, this presentation begins at 3:30 pm and admission is free.

Department of Arts, iEAR, presents author and critic Anne-Marie Schleiner. Her works explore gender, sexuality, and politics in a male-dominated computer gaming culture. Admission is $5, and the event begins at 7:30 pm in West Hall Auditorium.

The New York Writers Institute host Mary Gordon, one of America’s most admired prose writers. Come and hear Gordon read from, and speak about, her bestselling novels. This event begins at 8 pm in the Recital Hall at the Performing Arts Center on the University at Albany’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Proctor’s Theatre stages the musical Oklahoma at 9 pm on March 9 and 10. The tickets range from $29.50 to $49.50.

The New York Writers Institute shows the Japanese film “Yojimbo,” as a part of its Spring 2005 Classical Film Series. This event begins at 7:30 pm in Page Hall at the University at Albany’s downtown campus. Admission is free, and the series is open to the public.

Proctor’s Theatre exhibits its annual Nobody of Comedy festival. Raw, live, and unpredictable, this show is quite a crowd pleaser. This event begins at 8 pm and the starting ticket price is $16.50.

Troy Savings Bank Music Hall hosts an evening of Irish music with performers Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill. Tickets are available for as low as $23, and the show is at 8 pm.

University at Albany’s Performing Arts Center presents a violin and piano concert. Pianist Victoria von Arx and violinist Sylvia Ouelette perform the works of Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak and many more renowned classical artists. The event begins at 7 pm and admission is $8.

Pepsi Arena presents Smucker’s Stars on Ice. Come and enjoy America’s most theatrical skating tour in their 19th consecutive U.S. touring season. The performance begins at 4 pm and tickets range from $26-$96.

Troy Savings Bank Music Hall houses Leaves of Grass: Music by Fred Hersch, Words by Walt Whitman. Along with a combination of jazz and spoken word, this event also features famed jazz baritone Kurt Elling. This show begins at 7 pm and tickets start at $24.

Viva Coyote! comes to the Proctor’s Theatre. This performance is based on traditional Mexican folk stories. Times are 10 am and 12 pm.

Mr. Thomas Wuchte speaks in the Biotechnology Auditorium at 6 pm. Wuchte, of the U.S. Department of State Foreign Affairs, will speak on “Building Confidence & Security.” This event is free.

Andrea Tone of McGill University speaks for Women’s History Month. Tone lectures on “Bodies of Evidence: Women and Birth Control in History” in Sage Hall 4101 from 3:30-5:00 pm.

Julia Christensen, GRD, showcases her works from her research on “How Communities are Reusing the Big Box.” After traveling the U.S., Christensen comes back to disply her works of digital photography, and digital video and audio in a live presentation in the Greene Gallery of the Greene Building. The event starts at 6 pm.
