Rensselaer has been subject to a storm of bad publicity, most of it focused on President Shirley Ann Jackson. There is a tremendous lack of faith; lack of respect; lack of confidence with students, staff, and faculty on one side and the administration on the other. Something needs to be done.

The responsibility rests with the Board of Trustees. Unless they are removed by the State of New York, they essentially have absolute power. They are largely isolated from real contact with students, staff, and faculty. The administration deliberately makes direct contact extremely difficult except for a few highly orchestrated meetings.

To those of you who personally know a trustee, talk to them. Tell them the facts about what is happening and tell them of the terrible consequences we face if the rift is not repaired. Rensselaer cannot change the world until it heals itself first.
