Go, go. go you red, red, red! Fight, fight, fight you white, white, white! Go red! Go white! For those of you who are like me, the previous cheer should seem quite familiar as one of those so frequently chanted in the Houston Field House for the almost weekly home hockey games of our very own Engineers hockey. Getting season tickets to Rensselaer hockey has been a big part of my life here at RPI for the past three years. Ever since the first time I saw a game in the student section freshman year, I have looked forward to getting my tickets and being rowdy—err—spirited at the coming games. This is something that every member of the Rensselaer community should experience at least once.

If you have not yet been to a game, you are missing out on a part of the RPI culture. The excitement at the games is enough to transform people, myself for example, who at the beginning of their college career have no interest in hockey, into full-out, face-painting, player-heckling RPI hockey fans. There is a reason that dozens of people every year line up outside of the Renesselaer Union just to buy these coveted tickets. That is because seeing a hockey game surrounded by the energy of all the other hockey fans while shouting the obnoxious chants is just plain awesome. In fact, season tickets go on sale next week at the Union.

Kara Chesal ’09, the Grand Marshal, along with the Student Senate, will be hosting a party to celebrate this fantastic event. I will be there to purchase my season tickets. I encourage everyone else to do the same, either alone or in a group. I look forward to seeing everyone at the first home game on October 18 at the Field House. Forty-five days until then, and Clarkson still sucks.
