School’s out for the summer, and I hope you are all enjoying your time off. For those of you working hard during your vacation, don’t forget to take a break and relax. Now is the time for being adventurous, spontaneous, and open to new experiences. I have been experiencing the Californian lifestyle, and have learned that surprising and unforgettable things happen when you just take some chances. We often get so caught up in our work that we forget to enjoy the moment. There are many activities happening on and off campus over the summer, and you should try to participate in them. Go to the theater, try a new sport, and be courageous and meet some new people.

We are all so technologically savvy at our school, but I feel that the summer is a great time to round out our personalities. We should all try to build strengths in other areas, such as literature, art, and history. I know that for many of us, these fields pose little interest, but perhaps with a little perusing, you may find your niche in one of these schools of thought. The world is multidisciplinary, and we need to be well-equipped to succeed.

For those of you reading this who are new to or visiting RPI, I encourage you to explore all it has to offer. Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond is a phenomenal way to meet friends and try new activities. Student Orientation is also a great way to explore all that the campus has to offer. Stop by the Union Administration Office, and pick the brains of the very knowledgeable, helpful, and insightful staff. Learn about the one-of-a-kind Union we have, our five-star greek system, and our themed housing. RPI has a lot to offer, and if you are interested in learning about anything, please feel free to send me an e-mail at pu@rpi.edu. Have a safe and enjoyable summer.
