To the Editor:

In the week of September 19, the Arnold Air Society Chapter at RPI raised money for the Hurricane Katrina relief. As with other groups that were actively helping the cause, the AAS group is not only a global relief organization, but a local one as well. Comprised mainly of students enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program, we actively seek out others that will help us in our cause for bettering the community through community service and long term projects.

Although AAS mainly consists of Air Force students, this is not a limiting qualification. In fact, any students, if they are interested, can show up and find out what we are doing in the near future. Projects range from Habitat for Humanity to collecting cans for food shelters around Troy. We also participate in several walks and volunteer in homeless shelters as well as work on our main service project for the year, developing young leaders into better and more productive citizens.

Based on the myriad of activities that we participate in, you can bet that there might be something that would be interesting for you to help out with. And of course, the best part is that it will not take up your entire day. So thank you for your support in the Hurricane Relief, and if you are interested in showing up to meetings, please contact me, Will Huser, at huserw@rpi.edu, and I will be happy to see what we can do.
