Due to a delightful turn of events over spring break, I am pleased to announce that the Student Senate will be hosting “Pizza with the Mayor” next Monday from 12-2 pm in Mother’s. Troy Mayor Harry Tutunjian will be answering your questions in a casual format similar to our well-received “Pizza with the President” program.
Our mayor has a direct impact on our quality of life here. He is responsible for the city services, plays an instrumental part in all aspects of the city government, and is an ex officio member of RPI’s Board of Trustees. Aside from the titles and positions that he holds, the mayor is an easily approachable, caring individual who is genuinely concerned for the well being of all of Troy’s residents, including the students of RPI.
I know many students have concerns regarding the perception that the residents of Troy do not respect or appreciate their presence here. This is your perfect opportunity to voice those concerns, in addition to any other ones that you may have about the city services in general. Rest assured that you will find a welcome ear for your concerns, and I hope everyone enjoys meeting this captivating local politician.
As the GM Week election gets into full swing, I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of the candidates the best of luck, and to once again encourage anyone with interest in Student Government to run for office. If you have any questions you can e-mail rne@union.rpi.edu or attend one of the candidate information sessions, held at various times.
