It’s that time of year again! The sororities of RPI are very excited to announce the beginning of spring informal recruitment. Recruitment parties began at the start of last week, bringing new faces into the houses with fun themes like Italian Night, Phi-esta, and cookie decorating. Recruitment ends February 13, shortly followed by bids to potential new members. Alpha Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Pi Beta Phi, and Sigma Delta are all enthusiastic and eager to meet the newest additions to their houses.
The leaders of the greek community had the honor of participating in the annual greek leaders retreat during the first weekend back at school. The words of keynote speaker David Stollman were informative and inspiring, giving a new approach to successful greek life and members. Also, the combined efforts IFC and Panhel, along with all of the chapter presidents and acting Dean of Greek Life Travis Apgar, allowed for the creation of many smart goals for the year, which are all on the path for achievement.
In other news, Panhel has successfully completed its year-long mission to raise $6,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Because of fundraising and philanthropy events such as the Date Auction and Lip Sync, we can now make a local disabled child’s wish come true. We will be hosting a banquet in honor of this milestone in March. Currently, we are looking for new ideas for community outreach, and ways to help out local philanthropies. We ultimately would like to assist the Troy area in service while simultaneously helping raise monetary aid.
On behalf of the women greeks of RPI, we wish everyone a happy, healthy, and successful new year.
