Lately, the Graduate Council has kicking around ideas for events to get us out of our labs and having some fun. The materialization of these efforts will be graduate movie nights. We will have free food and drinks (most likely pizza and soda, but maybe something else from time to time) and a movie that’ll be free to grad students and their significant others. The first of these will be Tuesday, November 30 starting around 7:30 pm or so. Keep on the lookout for an ad in The Poly with specifics or posters around campus. We will also try to e-mail everyone, so don’t automatically erase all your e-mail!

Another event we are planning for the beginning of the spring (shouldn’t that be winter?) semester is a formal dinner dance. There is a lot that goes into planning a quality event of this magnitude and more hands make for lighter work. There is still a lot to be done, so, if any of you are available at all to help with the planning, those of us on the Grad Council would appreciate the assistance.

And, as always, if there are issues out there of any kind, we are your first line of representation with the administration, so please, do not hesitate to bring them to our attention. Additionally, if you have ideas for events you would like to see or do, along the lines of what we’ve been talking about, send those along too. The Grad Council meets at 8:00 pm in the Student Government Suite in the south west corner on the third floor of the Student Union. Feel free to e-mail me at morriw@rpi.edu.
