The statement of relationship between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and social fraternities and sororities at RPI is nearing completion. In fact, there is only one more meeting remaining until the statement is finalized. The statement is critical to greek life because it recognizes the long tradition of mutual support that has existed between Rensselaer and the greek community and outlines the commitment by both sides to continue this tradition.

Some specific issues outlined in the relationship statement include housing, safety, sanitation, fire protection, new-member education programs, and academics. Appendices have been added to include signatories’ positions on items such as fundamentals of rushing, hazing, and alcohol. The greek community hopes that this statement will become a national model for excellence.

In terms of upcoming events, Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s Farkouh Field Day will be held on Sunday, April 18. The Panhellenic Council has traditionally helped with this day for kids and will again this year. We are planning to paint faces and make Froot Loop necklaces with children as some ways to promote family fun.
