Seniors, where did the time go? With a little over 100 days until graduation, this final semester is an exciting time for all of us. Make sure to take advantage of a variety of celebrations and programs that are occurring this spring. If you are anything like me, and feel the concept of facing the “real world” in a few months is a bit scary, consider attending the “Thinking Ahead” workshops sponsored by our senior class, the Culminating Year Experience initiative, and several departments on campus. These workshops will begin in January and will highlight important life skills topics to prepare seniors and graduate students for life after college. Look for an e-mail soon with specific dates and program information.
The first celebration of the semester is the upcoming 100 Days Party scheduled for January 30. Our council decided to upgrade the traditional 100 Days Party to a roaring twenties themed “Senior Speakeasy.” We’ve selected beautiful Franklin Plaza as the location. I’m happy to report that all of the dinner slots for the event have already been filled up! For those of you that didn’t get a chance to sign up in time, you can still join the party for free from 9 pm-12 am. Sign up with Maureen in the Union Administration Office before January 26 to attend. Round trip transportation will be available all night.
The 100 Days Party is the kick off to an awesome Senior Week that we are planning. Our co-chairs are working hard to make the week a memorable end to our time at RPI. Packages can be purchased at the graduation fair on February 24 in the RPI Bookstore. The Graduation Fair runs from 10 am to 7 pm. Packages cost only $94 before February 28. After February 28, the cost of the package will be $104. Contact Senior Week co-chairs Kristin, kaczyk@rpi.edu, or Kelly, choppk2@rpi.edu, for questions.
Finally, for those of you that did not purchase a class ring, it’s not too late! Brochures are available in the Union Administration Office. You definitely want to check out our unique rings, completely redesigned for the Class of 2004. We are offering a stylish red-stoned ring, and a non-stoned signet ring featuring the Rensselaer Seal. Please contact me with any comments or questions at lisuza@rpi.edu. Take some time to enjoy our last semester together, and good luck with the job search or graduate school applications!
