Welcome back and Happy New Year! Hopefully you all had a relaxing break, and can find a way to enjoy this cold winter that we are back into. It’s great to have everyone around again, yet at the same time it’s always tough to get back into the routine of classes. For many of us, this will be our last semester of college, so let’s try to enjoy it!

The second semester marks the beginning of the budgeting season for the Union’s Executive Board. Members of the E-Board will be working hard over the next few weeks reviewing budget requests and determining the Union’s budget for fiscal year 2004-2005. This budget includes funding for such organizations as clubs, athletics, the bookstore, games room, Clubhouse Pub, the Rensselaer Union Speaker Series, and many more. This process is very important, as it accounts for all of the activities available for students. The E-Board has worked closely with these clubs and organizations to ensure that we provide the best representation possible.

With the coming of the new year, I encourage you to renew your interests in some activities and become further involved. It is never too late to join a club, so check out the services that the Union provides for something that may interest you. Try to attend some athletic events, as Rensselaer’s winter sports feature men’s and women’s ice hockey, basketball, indoor track, and swimming and diving. For a full listing of the games schedule, check out the newly developed Campus Events Calendar on the RPInfo home page.

The E-Board will continue to meet on Wednesdays at 7 pm, so please feel free to join us during any meeting. As always, I welcome you to contact me at pu@rpi.edu or stop by our office in the Student Government Suite. Good luck this semester, and keep warm!
