This week marks the beginning of the beginning of the first set of mid-term exams. In my two years here, I’ve seen that exams in nearly all classes tend to fall around the same time. What does this mean? Most will be studying intensely for the next few weeks, and for some of you these are your first exams since arriving at college. Remember through all of this to take time for yourself. Try not to get so caught up in studying that you burn yourself out. Take walks, take naps, join in on club activities. If you manage your time properly, you can do all of this, and it will definitely be worth it.

Since this is the Independent Council article, I will tell you what the IC currently doing. We will begin the process of tallying up the results from last semester’s course surveys. Watch the pages of The Poly for the results in the future. We are currently in the process of planning a few events, including a pool tournament for this semester and an event so that students can meet the members of the IC. Last semester’s pool tournament went very well, and pictures can be seen at our webpage http://independent.union. rpi.edu/.

We plan on having a greater turnout this year. Check the website for more details on this later. The meet the IC reception will be held on September 30. It’ll be a chance to meet the members of the IC in an informal manner with food, people, and what we hope will be a lot of fun.

If you have any questions on any of this, feel free to e-mail me at ic@union. rpi.edu or come to one of our meetings on Tuesdays at 9 pm. They are open to all who wish to attend. Enjoy your semester and good luck on midterms.
