Now that everyone has a week of classes under their belt, I hope you have found where you can schedule some time for extracurricular activities.
Last week’s Activities Fair showcased all of the clubs and organizations on campus and if you had some time to stop by, I hope that you found some activities that interest you. If you happened to miss the event and would like information on what we have to offer, check out the Rensselaer Union’s website of clubs and organizations. Although classes can keep you busy enough, it’s important to be involved in groups that allow you to meet new people and benefit from the many leadership and service opportunities available.
The Executive Board met for the first time last Wednesday, and it looks like a great year ahead for all of us. I would like to announce the current E-board members: Khaoula Benghanem, Andre Lewis, and Ronak Talati are the three Club/ICA Representatives; Rachel Evans is the Class of 2006 representative, Joseph Park is the Class of 2005 representative, Amanda Levine is the Class of 2004 class representative, and Eric Griffith is the graduate representative; Peter Baldwin is the member at large; Tom Reale is the athletic board chairperson; and Mary Kate DiTursi is the graduate council representative. There are still spots open for the Senate/E-Board liaison, Undergraduate Council representative, and the Class of 2007 representative.
E-Board meetings are open for anyone to attend; we will be meeting every Wednesday night at 7 pm this semester. Our business meetings consist of proposals that are presented by clubs who are looking for approval to make a purchase for their club, hold an event, or any other matter that needs our support. We do a lot of committee work outside of the meetings, which are also open for others to join and help out with.
If you are looking for something to do, check out UPAC’s featured movies for the week, and keep an eye open for many other shows and events that take place on campus. After a hard-working preseason, support all of our various athletic teams by attending their home games. Also, do not forget to purchase your season tickets for the hockey games that go on sale shortly. If you have any suggestions or comments, do not hesitate to contact me at pu@rpi.edu or you may reach the entire E-board at eboard@union.rpi.edu.
