I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, in the midst of nice weather and celebrations. With just a week left of classes, most of us are overloaded with work, and we still manage our everyday hectic schedules. I wish you all the best, and don’t forget to enjoy the ongoing events around campus. There will be EarthFest 2003 events April 23 to 25; RPI Players present Pippin the nights of April 24, 25, and 26; there is a Judo tournament on April 27; and RPI’s Concert Choir performs in West Hall on April 28. Take some time from studying and enjoy these events that are available for the entire Rensselaer community!

The Executive Board has also continued to stay busy with current business matters. We will have one more meeting this semester, Thursday at 7:30 pm in the Patroon Room; I encourage all interested to attend. For a recap of last week’s meeting, we had three clubs scheduled for proposals. These clubs were the Outing Club, the Ballroom Dance Club, and Habitat for Humanity.

The Outing Club received partial funding to travel to a local climbing wall, since Rensselaer’s climbing wall, located in the basement of the armory, was recently shut down due to safety concerns. The wall was built several years ago, and no longer meets building safety specifications.

The Ballroom Dance Club was asked by a community group to co-sponsor two dances the weekend of June 5 and 6. With a small ticket fee entrance, they will provide free dance lessons in the Lindy Hop; the venue for the event is still to be announced. For those that will be around, I encourage you to take this opportunity to learn a different type of dance, as well as supporting our Union organizations.

Lastly, Habitat for Humanity will be holding a benefit concert on April 25 in the McNeil room in conjunction with EcoLogic’s EarthFest celebration. Four local bands will be performing, and all proceeds will go towards the student built house construction. This will be a great performance and a chance for everyone to gather together for one last times this semester.

Again, I wish you all good luck with finals and projects while the end of classes approach. Always feel free to contact me at pu@rpi.edu, or stop by the GM/PU office in the Student Government Suite of the Union. We are always looking for student feedback and responses, as we welcome all of you. In addition, E-Board applications are being accepted throughout the week. I will begin selecting a board shortly. Enjoy the rest of the week, as well as the upcoming weekend before finals begin!
