Grand Marshal Week is here. It is a week for annual student campaigns, elections, and also a celebration of the tradition that has been around since 1865. This tradition of both the position of Grand Marshal and its election process is a very good reason for us to go out there and have some fun.
Theoretically, there are supposed to be neither exams nor projects due, which means a fairly easy week for everyone on campus. So why don’t we give ourselves a break from the weekly hassles that we have to face? We deserve one after all our hard work.
There are many interesting programs that have been scheduled for each day this week as a celebration of GM Week. These fun and exciting programs started last Friday and will end on Saturday. You can just look them up in the booklets which have been available around campus since last week or check out the Union’s webpage. Let’s use this week as a time to get together with friends before crunch time comes.
Another good thing about GM Week is that we have today off. It is the time for us to sit back and enjoy the one-day break that we have. Spend the day wisely. Many things can be done besides group meetings or finishing up homework. The GM Week committee has many great activities scheduled especially for today. We have the Provost’s BBQ, games, class ring premier, and candidate debates. With all the excitement around, why not use this day in the most enjoyable manner possible?
As we are having fun, don’t forget to place your vote. Choose people that you think can represent you best. The future of the school relies on your vote. After all, this is the whole purpose for GM Week.
