April brings with it increased visibility for fraternities. The IFC is continuing its involvement in Grand Marshal Week by sponsoring a water balloon fight on Saturday and root beer floats at the Union on Tuesday. I encourage you to come out and have a good time. Later in the month, we will continue our commitment to the community we live in with the first Greek Community Cleanup Day on April 27.

A month ago three members of the IFC Executive Board and the Panhellenic president attended the annual Northeast Greek Leadership Association conference in Pittsburgh, PA along with Travis Apgar, the fomer assistant dean of greek life. The conference consisted of a day of seminars and discussion groups with the theme of values based leadership. The four components of these sessions consisted of the core values of almost all fraternity precepts: community service, leadership, scholarship, and friendship. Many fraternities use various synonyms, but the ideals remain the same. Over the past month, those of us who attended have kept these values in mind and are working to further impart them in our respective organizations—IFC, Panhel, and individual chapters. This month will be no exception as we strive to close the semester strong with community service events, an increasing emphasis on grades, and enjoying the still-emerging spring with our brothers.

Best of luck to all in the remaining weeks.
