If you talked to some women, they’d tell you that life at this school is a challenge. Our time is filled with schoolwork, jobs, greek life, and extracurricular activities. Guys here are doing exactly the same things without complaining.
Yes, RPI is comprised of over 75 percent males. But, instead of feeling like I attend a school filled with scary sexual beasts, I see a big brother everywhere I look. I’m always accompanied when walking home at night. If I ever need help with a class, someone is always willing to take a few minutes to explain the concept or idea that’s giving me trouble. And, for the occasional jerk I do come across, there are 10 guys waiting in line to put him in his place.
Girls here don’t have it bad. This school is tough for everyone —guys and girls alike. Don’t blame it on the fact that you’re a female. It makes me cringe when I hear girls complain that there aren’t any nice guys at RPI. So many of us have become spoiled by the attention we’ve received since we arrived here freshman year, and it’s gone to our heads.
You’re going to be here for four years, regardless, so, open your eyes, girls. Embrace your surroundings, appreciate these guys, and accept them as your friends. By doing this, instead of despising their presense, you will make life happer for yourself and everyone around you.
