Hello everyone. Welcome back from winter break. I hope you were able to take some time off to relax before coming back for the spring semester. All of us are beginning a new chapter this semester. In the fall we had the opportunity to learn what worked well and what didn’t work so well. Now we are at a point where we can make choices that will determine our success in the coming months, both academically and personally.
The Senate will be going on a retreat this Saturday to do just this. We will discuss what went well last semester and what we can do to improve our performance. We will also discuss what to focus on this semester. We spent a significant amount of time in the fall gathering feedback from students. That data will play an integral role on Saturday. If you have more input as to what you think needs to be addressed let us know this week by e-mailing myself at gm@ rpi.edu or the Senate at senate-listens@rpi.edu.
Last semester, the advising task force completed a draft recommendation to President Jackson to restructure the advising system. Within the next two weeks we will complete the recommendation and submit it to the President. Stay tuned for highlights from the recommendation as well as follow-up action plans. I am really looking forward to changes in the current system that will dramatically improve the Rensselaer experience.
I wish everyone the best this semester. I’m looking forward to accomplishing a lot this spring. Good night everyone.
