To the Editor:

I am writing in response to the letter written by Jill A. Fisher last week. Jill, I have worked here at RPI for well over 20 years. I like having a job, and brace yourself Jill … I like it here. If it were bad here, as you have been informed, do you think myself and many, many others would choose to remain here? I’ve been here long enough to know that RPI is improving things here.

How many people did you “listen” to, Jill? I can tell it was one of the few leaders of the union campaign just by the wording and same old complaints.

Jill, tell me where in the country do you get health benefits for free?

Furthermore, working part time jobs to add income is not a shocking new concept, my father did this and lots of others do, too.

In closing, it is always easier to blame others for your problems and frustrations in life.

Speaking for myself and many others, I am grateful for having employment here, and while it is not perfect, RPI is not a bad place to work. A union here is not needed and I truly feel sorry for those who are basing their future happiness and well being in one.
