Freshmen, alert! Be aware that your final elections are coming up this week and the choices you make will make a difference later on! Before voting, be sure to read up on your candidates, send them e-mails, and really understand what they intend to do if elected. If your candidate does not have a good response, you should seriously consider your options before casting your vote.
That being said, the IC stands ready to welcome its three new representatives from the freshman class. With this added manpower, the IC plans to continue its constant growth and tackle many tasks this semester. As for tasks in progress, the IC is already working on obtaining a pretzel-warming machine for the Union Rathskeller and is beginning preparation of its course survey, which is issued every semester. The IC would also like to extend its thanks to Kathy Edick of Auxiliary Services. After many negotiations with outside service providers and informative sessions with the IC, Ms. Edick was able to replace the aging fleet of washers plaguing the freshman hill residence halls.
As for the IC course surveys—results from last semester have already been processed! These results wait to be printed and will be available just a few weeks before class registration at the end of this semester. The IC survey covers introductory courses and electives and may prove useful if you want to know what previous students thought of the course. Unlike IDEA surveys, the IC survey results are published and they are published with the comments. If, at the end of the semester, you are taking a class that receives blue “Independent Council Survey” forms, please remember to fill them out. Your consideration will help other students make more informed choices.
