Hello everyone! I am truly excited to be your new Undergraduate Council president. I look forward to a great year with the UC and hope that we can finish up past issues from this year and address new goals. These include revising the bylaws, starting the mentor program for class councils, and revising the current Student Handbook.

I also hope that with the active participation of the councils and the support of the student body, we can make positive changes in the various issues that concern you. The UC and I will do our best to represent you, but this requires involvement and much input from you. One way I would like to initiate this is by asking you to do something right now: Join me and the rest of the Council members on our Usenet group.

Here, you can voice your suggestions, ideas, complaints, etc. For example, what changes would you like to see in the Handbook? To subscribe to the news group, go in Netscape to your Mail Preferences, then go to Newsgroups servers. Under this category, add the server usenet.rpi.edu (default port is 119)

and then subscribe to the Usenet group rpi.campus.ugrad.council.

During the first few weeks of next year, the council will be looking for students interested in becoming the secretary, treasurer, and web master and also for those interested in becoming a part of the academics and social committees. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to e-mail me at lalchp@rpi.edu. Take a break from work and go to the Spring Fling in the Quad Commons today! Until next time, good luck to all of you on your exams and have a great summer!
