It’s a Tuesday evening, about 11:30 pm right now. I don’t feel so great and I’ve got more problems to deal with than fingers to count them with. Frankly, I’m just exhausted and I want to get some sleep so that I can make it in to work tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I can’t do that, because my bedroom is shaking. Sounds odd, doesn’t it? Well, I just happen to have some very inconsiderate neighbors. You see, my neighbors—who live two floors down—really enjoy their bass. Unfortunately, it travels straight up and into my apartment. I just find it hard to get any sleep at all when I keep hearing and feeling a loud thumping coming from below me. I feel bad for the guys who live on the second floor of my building; it’s got to be even worse for them.

I’ve tried to stop this constant madness. I’ve knocked on both the front and back doors and rung the doorbell; I’ve even gone as far as to call Troy PD once. It didn’t help. There’s nothing anyone can do if they refuse to answer the door.

I will say that every so often someone actually will answer the door, and they will turn the music down for about 10 minutes or so. Unfortunately, by the time I make it upstairs and take my shoes off, the incessant shaking begins again.

It’s really frustrating, since I feel that I try to be a good neighbor. I’m not home very often, and I just want some peace and quiet in the evening. I really don’t have a problem with the fact that my neighbors like to jack up the volume, but surely there must be a point where it’s loud enough without it being felt two floors up.
