Welcome back from your break, if you had the chance to take one. As grad students, sometimes the breaks between semesters and the days off aren’t really days off for us. I did manage to get away for a little bit and spend a relaxing holiday with my family. We had a great time falling all over ourselves learning to cross-country ski. It was fun, but a bit more challenging than I expected.
Like many of you, I am hoping to graduate this semester. I am finished with classes and now I face the daunting task of writing a thesis. I thought (foolishly) that this semester would be easier because I am not taking any classes. After all, all I have to do is some research and a thesis. Yeah right! Well, I find myself very busy and constantly worrying, "Will I get it all done on time!?!"
Well, the first step towards graduation is filling out a degree application form, which is due on January 26. Filling out this form is a little frightening since I haven’t quite started writing my thesis yet.
As for this semester, the Grad Council is planning some fun activities starting with a Suds ‘N Flicks. At Suds ‘N Flicks we provide lots of tasty snacks and refreshing beverages for you to enjoy while you watch a movie. We are finishing up the planning for this event, so keep an eye out for the details.
Last semester we held a Suds ‘N Flicks in November, but I’m afraid we didn’t get the message out to all of you. This semester we will try to get the message out better. You can always check our website for information on events that we sponsor. We try our best to update the website with useful and current information. Also watch out for ads in The Poly and keep an eye on the "Campus Notices" and "What’s Happening" sections.
