The Rensselaer community bids farewell to Vice President for Government and Community Relations Larry Snavley, who is leaving after 19 years of service. The reception is being held in the Bruggeman Conference Center of the Biotech Center from 3:30-5 pm.

The RPI Playwrights’ Festival returns for its annual display of short plays written by RPI students and performed by the Arts Department’s Theatre Performance class. There is another performance Monday, May 1. Both shows are free and start at 6 pm.

The RPI Players present Titanic the Musical in the RPI Playhouse at 8 pm. The show will also be running Saturday, April 28, and Sunday, April 29, both at 8 pm. Tickets are $5 with RPI ID, $8 for students and seniors, or $10 for the general public.

The DCC Great Hall houses the third annual Game Festival and Symposium from 5-9 pm. Over 20 student teams will present their work created not only for fun, but also to promote professional development and entrepreneurship.

The Rensselaer Holocaust Remembrance Committee shows Paper Clips, a film based on a middle school in Tennessee collecting one paper clip for every person killed in the Holocaust. The movie will be in DCC 324 from 7-9 pm and is free to all.

Albany’s WCDB 90.9 FM presents rock band Thursday with special guests Me Without You and We’re All Broken. The show starts at 7:30 pm at Saratoga Winners. Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door.

Martina McBride performs at the Pepsi Arena starting at 7:30 pm with special guest the Warren Brothers. Tickets are $49.75 and can be purchased at Price Chopper stores or online through http://www.pepsiarena.com/.

The Black Students Alliance hosts their annual comedy show in the Academy Hall Auditorium from 8-10 pm. This year’s event will feature Queen Aishah, who has been seen on BET’s “ComicView.” Attendance is free.

The Mathematicians return to Ground Zero to perform with special guests Andrew Eckel and Benjikope. Eckel will be opening the show at 8 pm with songs from his new album, “Summer Heat.” There is no cost to attend.

Northern Lights welcomes the Killers of Comedy Tour featuring the Reverend Bob Levy, Sal the Stockbroker, and others. Tickets are $25 in advance or $28 the day of the show. The performance will start at 8 pm and is hosted by Bob Wolf from WPYX 106.

Momix visits Proctors Theatre to perform “Lunar Sea,” choreographed by Moses Pendelton, at 8 pm. Momix is a dance group that specializes in human acrobatics. Tickets are $19.75, $29.75, or $32.75.

Somos El Futuro stages their annual benefit concert at The Egg in Albany at 8:30 pm. There will be performances by Raggaeton with N.O.R.E., El Gran Combo, and Roc “La Familia” All Stars. Tickets are $25.

The Philippine American League holds their annual Bayanihan Banquet from 5-11 pm in the McNeil Room. The event will combine cultural food and performances. Tickets are $10 for pre-registration at http://www.palinmotion.com/ or $12 at the door for RPI students.

The Rensselaer Pride Alliance teams up with UPAC Cinema to present Boys Don’t Cry in DCC 308 with showtimes of 7 pm, 9:30 pm, and 12:30 am. The film depicts the life of Teena Brandon, a cross-dresser who preferred her male identity.

Andrew Eckel performs songs from his new album, “Summer Heat,” at the Children’s Museum of Science and Technology at 7:30 pm. Eckel will be joined by Jason Steven Murphy, aka skfl, who will project live-video art using clips from Eckel’s home movies.

Ground Zero finishes the year with their last Open Mic Night in the Nugent Hall Basement at 8:30 pm. As always, there is no cost to perform or attend, and there will be a piñata to celebrate a successful semester of performances.
