Eric Kandel reads excerpts from his new book, In Search of Memory: The Emergence of a New Science of Mind. Kandel received a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2000 and has been writing textbooks as well. The reading and discussion will be in SUNY Albany’s Assembly Hall CC at 4:15 pm.
Believer stages its Ozzy tribute performance at Northern Lights at 7:30 pm. The band will be accompanied by special guest Meltdown. Tickets are $10.
Peru Negro dances alongside a full band of percussion, guitar, and vocals at Albany’s The Egg at 7:30 pm. The group was founded over three decades ago to present colorful African dances and preserve their culture. Tickets are $11, $18, or $22.
The Irish Rovers celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a week early with their 40th Anniversary Tour. The Rovers are known for their loud clapping and stomping accompanying the singing, and the show is being held at Proctor’s Theatre at 8 pm. Tickets are $19.75 or $29.75 for adults, or $14.75 for minors under 17.
The Daily Grind holds a Dave-themed show with Shades of Dave and Dave Doria Jazz. The show runs from 8-11 pm, and there is no cost to attend. The Daily Grind is located at 43 3rd Street in Downtown Troy.

Clear Channel Radio sponsors “Queen of Mean” Lisa Lampanelli at The Egg at 8 pm. Lampanelli has received approval from Howard Stern, who referred to her as “a real funny broad.” Tickets are on sale for $25.
Maestro Gergiev leads the Kirov Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater from 8-10 pm at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Among them will be renowned violinist Mikhail Simonyan. This is a free show sponsored by the Kodosky Foundation Fund for Classical Music.

Fall Out Boy kicks off their Black Clouds and Underdogs Tour at Pepsi Arena at 6:30 pm. They will be joined by All American Rejects, Hawthorne Heights, and From First To Last. Tickets are on sale now for $28, and the concert is sponsored by Step Up Presents, Fly 92.3, and The House of Blues.
Dr. Hugh Page visits the C+CC from The University of Notre Dame. He will talk about “Becoming Textual Icons” at 7 pm as part of the Lenten Speakers Series.
