The African and Caribbean Students Association holds a cultural show in the McNeil Room from 8-10 pm. The RPI Step Team will be performing, and the Nigerian Students Association will present a show with drums. An African guest group, The Fakoli Dancers, have an act that combines both dance and drums. This is a free event.
Mother’s presents The Whippersnappers—Frank Orsini, George Wilson, and Peter Davis—from 8-10 pm. All three members are well-known for their individual folk music, as each can play numerous string instruments. There is no fee to attend.
Saratoga Winners showcases local bands Mantella, Corona of the Sun, Samadion, and Method of Productive Means at 8 pm. These bands are classified as rock and draw some inspiration from The Who and Led Zeppelin. Tickets are priced at $10.
Cirque du Soleil brings their Delirium tour to Pepsi Arena for back-to-back performances Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm. The show will feature an integration of musicians, singers, and dancers into an unique evening of creative excellence. Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. stages their ninth annual Poetry Slam in the McNeil Room from 7-10 pm. There will be a poetry competition as well as an open mic segment. Performances and attendance are free.
Mest rocks out with special guests Allister, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and Just Ask at Saratoga Winners starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $13 in advance or $15 at the door.
Keller Williams entertains with a one man show at The Egg in Albany at 8 pm. Williams is a self-taught rhythmic musician and is known for unconventional folk songs that express his views on everyday life. Tickets are $15 for students and $18 for the general public.
Sheer Idiocy stages their first show of the spring semester in Mother’s from 8-11 pm. They are known for their on-the-spot comedy shows with improvisational games ranging from self-embarrassment to audience participation. There is no attendance cost.
The Auryn String Quartet performs in Emma Willard School’s Kiggins Hall from 8-10 pm. Auryn is known for their contemporary music and has received many positive reviews and awards during 25 years together. Emma Willard is accessible on CDTA bus route 80.

WPYX sponsors a Super Bowl party at Northern Lights starting at 3 pm. There will be an all you can eat buffet courtesy of Bennigans, $2 beer specials, and a big screen TV to catch all the game action. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 the day of.

Society of Women Engineers holds a general body meeting in Sage 3303 at 6 pm. This meeting will cover the history of SWE, in particular who started the group and why. The founding women will discuss this and how the group has evolved.

Tuesday Night Toolbox returns with a seminar entitled “Tenant Training” in the Nason Hall Classroom at 4:30 pm. This is an informational session for students planning to move—or who are currently living—off-campus about what to expect and what rights they will have as an apartment tenant. The Shellnutt Gallery introduces artists Wayne Clarke, Lamerol Gatewood, and Ronald Walton during a reception from 5-7:30 pm. This marks the beginning of a month-long exhibit called “The Brooklyn Beat” to honor this year’s Black History Month.

James Collins ’77 revists Rensselaer to discuss his architectural views from 6-8 pm in the second floor gallery of the Greene Building. Collins is visiting as part of the 75th Anniversary Lecture Series, and there is no charge to attend.
