The Department of Materials Science welcomes speaker Hanadi Sleiman as part of the Engineering Seminar Series from 4-5 pm. Sleiman is visiting from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and will be discussing self-assembly of DNA and biologically enabled polymers.

The Ski Club holds their Snow Fiesta from 4:30-11:30 pm at Bousquet Mountain, and buses will leave from the Armory. Space is limited to the first 300 people to sign up by December 7 outside the Ski Club office, located near Father’s. The admission price is $20.
Northern Lights hosts “An Evening with Rusted Root” starting at 7 pm. After the success of their summer tour, Rusted Root scheduled a fall tour with several New York dates. Tickets are either $20 in advance or $23 at the door.
UPAC Mother’s presents Jake Armerding from 8-10 pm. Armerding, a folk singer originally from Massachusetts, released a self-titled album in 2003 and is currently touring. There is no cost to attend.
Nathan Myers performs a solo baritone holiday concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall beginning at 8 pm. Myers has been featured with various symphonies and philharmonics, including the Albany Symphony Orchestra. This is a free show sponsored by the Sylvia and Alexander Hassan ’27 Concert Series.

The Youth Ballet Company stages excerpts from The Nutcracker and Paquita at Albany’s Egg at both 1:30 and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students.
A Handmade Holiday gives students the opportunity to make their own holiday gifts or shop for items by local artisans. This gift bazaar is being held by the Student Progressive Educational Action Kinship from 3:30-6 pm in the McNeil Room.
The Rusty Pipes invite guest groups Smith College Notables and SUNY Binghamton Rhythm Method for the annual Pipe-A-Thon. The concert is being held in DCC 308 beginning at 7 pm. Tickets are $4 in advance or $5 at the door.
Saratoga Winners features All That Remains with special guests Crimson Mask, Heal These Wounds, Son of Mourning, and Israfel. The show starts at 7:30 pm, and tickets are on sale for $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
Sheer Idiocy hosts their end of the semester show, “Sheer Idiots Last Stand,” from 8-11:30 pm in Mother’s. Sheer Idiocy, the campus comedy improv group, boasts seven current members. This is a free show.

IEAR Studios showcases new work by MFA candidates at Rensselaer in “Obsess, Profess, Process,” including both open studio time and performances. There will be open studios throughout West Hall from 4-7 pm, and the performances will begin at 7 pm in the auditorium. The entire event is free.
Monday December 12, 2005
The Churchills visit the Union again to promote their newly released CD, The Odds of Winning. The performance will be held in the Rathskellar from 12-1 pm. The show is free and is being sponsored by the RPI Bookstore.
Jim Brickman plays a holiday show at Proctor’s Theatre at 8 pm. Brickman, a piano virtuoso, has been referred to as a “romantic musician.” Tickets are $29.75, $36.75, and $39.75, and can be purchased at http://proctors.org/.

The Pepsi Arena presents Disney on Ice Princess Classics featuring Cinderella, Ariel, and several other all-time favorites. The show is at 7 pm and will be running through December 18. Other showtimes can be found on their website, http://www.pepsiarena.com/. Tickets are $13, $19, $36, and $51.
The Egg holds Tony Kenny’s “Christmas Time in Ireland” with special guests comedian George Casey, Colleen Victoria Kenny, and The Dublin City Dancers and Singers. The show is being presented by the Irish American Heritage Museum at 8 pm. Ticket information can be obtained by calling 432-6598.
