iEAR Presents! co-sponsors a benefit show with Hudson Mohawk from 7-9 pm. The show, entitled “Still We Ride,” will feature a documentary on the free-forming bike ride Critical Mass and New York City’s attempts to stop this event. There is a suggested donation of $10, and the film is being shown at The Sanctuary for Independent Media on 6th Avenue in Troy.

Friday

he Muslim Students Association encourages students to participate in their Fast-A-Thon from sunrise to sunset in which participants are asked not to eat or drink within that time. A traditional meal will be served at sundown followed by a presentation on world hunger. This event is to raise awareness of world hunger and the holy month of Ramadan.

The African and Caribbean Student Association hosts its Cultural Show from 7-9 pm in the McNeil Room. There are cultural presentations scheduled throughout the event.

The Ballroom Dance Club invites students and guests to their Halloween dance from 7-9 pm in the Academy Hall Gym. Costume is strongly recommended as there will be prizes for best costumes along with limbo and refreshments. Lessons are also available from 7-7:30 pm, and the cost to attend is $3 for students and $5 for guests.

Saratoga Winners provides a night of entertainment with Fear Before the March of Flames. Also performing are special guests Bear vs. Shark, Since By Man, and Fall of Troy. This show begins at 7:30 pm, and tickets are $10 at the door.

Ground Zero holds “Dress Up or Shut up,” their Halloween Open Mic, in the Nugent Hall Basement beginning at 8 pm. It is free to both perform and attend, but all performers are required to be in costume. A Halloween dance party will immediately follow.

Saturday

The Professional Leadership Program hosts current students and alumni for an afternoon of networking and desserts. This gathering is being held by Paul Conforti ’98 and the Finale Restaurant in Boston from 3-5 pm.

The Rensselaer Christian Association presents their Open Mic Night in Mother’s starting at 7 pm. This is open to all performers with the stipulation that material must be appropriate for television. Some refreshments will be free, and others will be on sale with proceeds benefiting Red Cross Disaster Relief.

The Black Students’ Alliance kicks off Black Awareness Week with A Night of Free Expression. This will showcase student performances ranging from skits to singing. The show will run from 8-11 pm, and there is no cost of attendance.

Sunday

The National Arenacross Series stops by the Pepsi Arena at noon to showcase professional riders in the series’ 22nd year. Riders will be competing on 125cc and 250cc motorcycles for cash prizes. Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for children ages 2-12.

Monday

The C+CC invites students and their guests to celebrate Halloween with fun, frolics, and feasting. This event is free for all to attend and will run from 10 pm-12:30 am. For more information, contact J. Eric Smith at 274-7793.

Tuesday

The Bookstore presents The Churchills, a new and upcoming band, from 12-1 pm in the Union. Their music has been heard on shows including “Scrubs” and “The Sopranos.” For more information, go to http://www.thechurchills.net/.
