The Archer Center holds a Key Executive Conference for students to interact with VPs and CEOs of major corporations. Students will learn key skills in decision-making on both a business and personal level. This meeting runs from 4:15 –5:30 pm in the Heffner Alumni House. The event is free, but pre-registration is required.

Friday

NSBE/SHPE hosts the 27th annual student organized job fair for students. The fair is being held in the Armory from 10 am–4 pm both Friday and Saturday. For more information, contact the Office of Minority Student Affairs at 518-276-6272.

Recruiters meet with students to discuss employment opportunities. The recruiters are from Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Y-12 National Security Complex. They will be meeting in DCC 337 from 4 –6 pm with refreshments.

iEAR Presents! demonstrates “Feedforward” and “Decontrolled” by Kabir Carter. These two works attempt to transform physical space with environmental sound and reprogram redundant mainstream radio, respectively. The Chinese Student Association welcomes RPI students, staff, and families for their Mid-Autumn Festival from 7–11 pm in the McNeil Room. There will be poetry and song in honor of the Moon Goddess as well as the tradition of eating mooncakes.

Scott Alarik performs a folk concert from 8–10 pm at Mother’s in the Union. Both Rensselaer students and their guests will be admitted free.

Saturday

FYE interacts with the local community during its Community Service Day from 10 am–3 pm. Students, faculty, and staff may register on the FYE website. For information on events and locations, contact FYE at 518-276-6864.

Ultimate College Weekend attracts local college students to the Pepsi Arena in Albany for live music and gadget giveaways. The event runs from 11 am–5 pm, and tickets are $7 in advance until September 29 or $10 at the door. For more information, go to http://www.ultimatecollegeweekend.com/.

RHA and Go Be Red sponsor a “Skate with the Engineers” at 7 pm following the Red and White scrimmage game at 5:15 pm in the Houston Field House. Admission is free and skates will be provided.

The American String Quartet celebrates its 30th year by holding a concert in the Emma Willard School Kiggins Hall from 8–10 pm. Transportation is available through CDTA bus route 80, and the event is free.

Saratoga Winners presents Pennywise with special guests H2O, Death by Stereo, and A Wilhelm Scream. The show starts at 8 pm, and tickets are $15 in advance or $17 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at

The Egg introduces “Ralph’s World” featuring singer/guitarist Ralph Covert beginning at 3 pm in Albany. The show is designed to attract people of all ages. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children. For more information, contact the box office at 518-473-1845.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences hosts speaker Chrysoula Tsogka from the University of Chicago in Amos Eaton 214 from 2–3 pm. Tsogka will be discussing applications in wave propagation problems.

Tuesday

Speaker Dr. Tamar Eilan from IBM discusses “Reducing the Complexity of Application Deployment in Large Data Centers” from 4–5 pm in Sage 3510. Refreshments will be served at 3:30 pm.
