The annual CDC Spring 2005 Career Fair offers students a place to find jobs from 12 pm – 6 pm. It is held in the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies Auditorium.

BSA kicks off Black History Month by hosting a film screening and discussion of The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till with filmmaker Keith Beauchamp. It is open to the public and is free of charge in the DCC 308 at 7 pm.

University at Albany Writer’s Institute presents a reading by photographer Jane Feldman and Thomas Jefferson descendant Shannon Lanier, co-authors of “Jefferson’s Children: The Story of One American Family.” This event begins 4 pm in the Campus Center 375 at the University at Albany. It is free to the public.

The Ballroom Club holds their first Winter Dance in the McNeil Room from 7 to 10 pm. Dress is casual and the fee is $3 for students and $5 for non-students. Come and learn how to ballroom dance!

The Chapel + Cultural Center presents the classical guitarist Thibault Cauvin, one of Europe’s rising stars, along with the local William Simcoe. Doors open at 7:30 pm, and the performance begins at 8 pm. Admission is free for all.

Kate Klim sings her blues soul with her piano playing at UPAC Mother’s at 8 pm. Admission is free for students with an RPI ID and $7 for the general public.

Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. holds their 8th annual poetry slam in West Hall Auditorium at 7 pm sharp. The event begins with an intense poetry competition followed by an Open Mic segment.

Proctor’s Theatre presents Comedy Idols from “Last Comic Standing” at 8 pm. Admission starts at $29.50. Come and enjoy an evening of hilarious comedy.

Ground Zero presents Hot Gurl Party 2005, a music festival, in the basement of Nugent Hall from 3 pm to 10 pm. Admission is $5.

UPAC Main stage hosts Brad Yoder at Mother’s. This event is free admission and open to all students. The event starts at 8 pm.

Troy Savings Bank Music Hall holds the Manhattan Ensemble for its Music at Noon event. The Ensemble consists of a Classical Guitar & Flute Progam with music of Handel, Giuliani, Piazolla, and Ibert. This noon event offers free admission.

2004 Pulitzer Prize winner and author of “The Known World”, Edward P. Jones comes to The New York State Writers Institute at the University at Albany. He holds a seminar at 4:15 pm in the Recital Hall and the Performing Arts Center, and a reading at 8 pm in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue. The reading is open and free to the public.
