The Union came alive last Friday with a party that really raised the bar on what a good party should be.
Organized by Alianza Latina in conjunction with Lambda Upsilon Lambda fraternity, the event filled the McNeil room drawing students from schools as far as Syracuse and Rochester.
The party started slow, but as the time for inflation drew near the entry lines almost rounded the corner. And when the doors closed at 1 am, some people were even left outside. But for those of us who were there, we danced the night away. With DJ Precise from New York City at the turntables, the crowd danced to the sounds of hip-hop, both old and new, soca, and of course, salsa, and merengue. They also cheered as the greeks in attendance “strolled” around the perimeter of the dance floor, each with their own unique style and call.
At 2 am when the party ended, the dance floor was still packed and many people didn’t want to see the night end. Many of the patrons moved on over to the RSE house where the dancing continued. With DJ Danny spinning one level and RPI’s own Flavio Barbosa and Miguel Tejada on the second level, the party at RSE was just as good as the one that preceded it in the Union. The night finally ended near dawn as crowds dwindled and many people headed to their cars for the long ride home, but with the memories of a great party.
