Hello all! I have a few updates regarding the Executive Board, and some messages for club officers. First, the E-Board: applications for the two positions available to first year students on the E-Board have closed this past Monday.
Shannon Gillespie McComb ’17, the vice president of the Union, and I have already begun interviewing potential candidates for the Board. By Friday we will have made our decisions, and I will submit my appointments to be approved by the Student Senate soon after. If all goes well, we will have two new E-Board members by the end of next week. In addition to this, the E-Board will begin posting all agendas and minutes from our meetings on our website at https://poly.rpi.edu/s/tl5vw. Agendas will be posted every Tuesday prior to our normal meeting times (Thursdays at 8 pm Union 3602) and minutes will be posted the following week. Any comments on the documents posted can be sent to pu@rpi.edu and I will be sure to bring them up during E-Board meetings.
Second, updates for club officers: this week all Union-funded clubs must send at least one club officer to our financial and travel workshops (travel workshops are only required for clubs who travel). The remaining workshops will occur as follows, Financial Workshops: tonight (Wednesday September 14), 5–6:30 pm, Union Room 3602; Travel Workshops: Tuesday September 20, 5–6:30 pm, Union Room 3602 and Wednesday September 21, 5–6:30 pm, Union Room 3602; Combined Financial & Travel Workshop: Saturday September 17, 11 am–12:30 pm, Mueller Center Classroom.
Club officers may attend the combined financial & travel workshop on the September 17 to satisfy both requirements. Again attendance at these workshops is mandatory for Union funded clubs and at least one club officer must be present. These workshops cover the tools and ideas essential to operating Union clubs and navigating financial and travel policies.
Last but not least, the E-Board, Union staff, and Human Resources are wrapping up a search for a new Administrative Specialist within the next couple of weeks. We, the Rensselaer Union E-Board, and everyone in the Union are very excited to finish the process and welcome a new member to the Rensselaer Union. Following the end of this search the Union will continue to search for qualified professionals to fill the remaining vacancies in staff positions.
