The 5,000-plus that will be packed into the Houston Field House on February 12, 2005 for the Big Red Freakout will not be the only folks fortunate enough to see it.

The East Coast Athletic Conference, which recently inked a national television contract with College Sports Television, announced that the match-up between Brown and Rensselaer will be one of five regular season games sporting ECAC teams broadcasted nationally throughout the year.

The other regular season games are Harvard versus Yale on November 12, Cornell versus Boston College on December 28, Cornell possibly in the championship game of the Florida Classic on December 29, and The Big Red versus Clarkson on January 28.

CSTV, which agreed to a multi-year deal with the conference, will also televise the ECAC championship before a national audience.

“The ECAC Hockey League traditionally produces many of the best teams and student-athletes in college hockey,” said Chris Bevilacqua, co-founder and executive vice president, CSTV. “Our telecasts, the only national telecasts of hockey at any level, will provide fans nationwide with an opportunity to experience college hockey at its finest, and to get a first-hand look at the NHL stars of tomorrow.”

The station’s Friday Night Hockey is currently the only nationally scheduled hockey coverage with the lockout still looming over the National Hockey League season.

The network will show games from every collegiate hockey conference, and will feature 13 of the 16 teams that made up the NCAA Tournament field last year, including reigning NCAA champion Denver.

CSTV, a multi-media company, consists of the first ever 24-hour channel dedicated solely to college athletics, one of the leading college sports website, http://www.collegesports.com, and a 24-hour national radio station on SIRIUS radio.
