If you missed out on Acacia"s comedy show on September 22, then you"ll have another chance to attend one when Pi Lambda Phi hosts a comedy show on October 18 in DCC 308 at 8 pm. Comedian Steve Hofstetter will be the attraction, and the event will benefit the March of Dimes, an organization that helps save premature babies.

Also several weeks ago, the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon hosted their 18th annual Farkouh Field Day, an event for children in the Troy area to come out for free food, carnival games, face painting, and sporting games. Appearances from sororities, Troy Police Department, Troy Fire Department, and the Albany River Rats' mascot helped entertain all of the children in attendance.

Last week was the Greek Career Night. Greek alumni who have become successful after their time at RPI can attribute a lot of their success to the fact that they were greek. What they were taught as brothers and sisters and their morals and values all helped craft individuals who were able to go far in the world.

This weekend, there will be a greek barbecue at Rensselaer Society of Engineers. It is intended for family members of greeks and pledges. It will be held from 1-4 pm on October 14, and it is also a time for parents to ask questions of any alumni that will be present. Because parents can seem uneasy about their child joining a greek organization, greek alumni (and other parents of greek upperclassmen) can put them at ease based on their own experiences. Since this is the first time the event has happened, we hope it will turn out to be successful and continue for years on down the road. It may even change several students' minds about whether or not to join a fraternity or sorority.
