It was just two weeks ago that I had less than three hours to decide if I was going to run for President of the Union. I almost let this opportunity pass me by, so I urge you all to take every opportunity that comes your way. I have never regretted the games I lost, but only those I chose not to play. I encourage all students to take full advantage of their time here at Rensselaer. We are here to become equipped for life with the tools and knowledge to make a difference in the world. I have found that my experiences outside of the classroom will take me just as far, if not farther, than my required curriculum.

It is still hard for me to believe. I can remember last year as a freshman sitting on the Executive Board looking up to the President of the Union in awe of the responsibilities and prestige the position holds. I could not have even imagined that I would have come this far so quickly. I cannot express the honor I feel as the 122nd PU, and the sense of duty I feel towards the student body from which I was elected. Rest assured that I will work tirelessly for my constituents, and that I will do everything in my power to improve the quality of life at Rensselaer.

As the reality of my office sinks in, I begin to think of all those who made this possible. I cannot thank my family and friends enough for all the support they have given me. If it were not for such a strong support group, I would not have a foundation from which to grow. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the S.Badia party. Without their help my campaign would not have been possible. The election process was a learning experience, and I knew that regardless of the results I would take away a positive experience.

This year promises to be a momentous one for the Rensselaer Union. This is a critical year, and I know that I am more than up to the challenge. There are going to be decisions made this year that will affect students for years to come. With the tremendous amount of resources that surround me, and equipped with a vision and passion for my job, I know that the Union will continue to grow and improve its service for the student body. I will make certain that the Union continues to improve upon the job of serving the ever-changing needs and interests of students when it comes to student life at Rensselaer.
