To the Editor:

I am a student that lives in the RAHPs apartment buildings behind BARH. I went to go get a parking permit for my car this year, and to my surprise the price had gone up from $63 to $95. I figured it was due to the construction and didn’t give it a second thought. I took my H parking permit and went back to my room.

When I was at the shuttle stop, I saw a sign saying that commuters only had to pay $50. They park in the Field House parking lot, which is an H parking lot. This is the part that I don’t see as fair. Why should a commuter pay $50 and a student living on campus pay $95 for the same parking permit? We have to pay the same price as students who get a C permit to park in the lots on campus, but we can’t park there. The commuter students are receiving the same rights as us, however, they are paying $45 less.

Some might say that this is because they don’t leave their cars there overnight. However, they have the ability to do that with the type of permit that they have. I think that they need to either change the type of permit they give to the commuters or refund all of the students that are receiving H permits and living on campus, $45.
