To the Editor:

To be honest, whenever I see the words “Campus.News” in the sender field of my e-mail inbox, I delete the message immediately. I can only speak for myself, but I am just a student who is serving his four-year sentence in Troy in order to earn a degree so I can leave and start my life. In other words, I don’t care what happens to this school as long as I have a degree at the end with RPI’s seal on it. I am not an avid Poly reader, but I did happen to read this past week’s editorial concerning “propaganda” propagated by the school. Out of curiosity, I searched through old e-mails to find the e-mail that had been the subject of all this outrage. Upon reading that e-mail, I think you’re all mistaken. It’s quite simple. If you read the e-mail again, one of the very first lines reads, “the institute has issued the following statement: ...” I believe that this quote should speak for itself, but I guess I’ll explain. Of course it’s biased, it’s, in essence, a quote. Campus.News is relating to the student body the Institute’s position on the topic. They have every right to do that since they specify who is making the comments. Make your own conclusions about how the union dispute should be handled but remember that Campus.News is the media between the student body and the administration. How else would we know the standpoint of the administration? If you want the other side of the argument, go ask your roommate what he thinks, but please don’t explode for the sake of exploding. It doesn’t make for good reading.
