The last several weeks have been a blur for me. There have been a lot of big student issues coming to a head, as I try to find and accept a job, be Grand Marshal, be a student (I think everyone forgets that one), and also be a good son, brother, uncle, friend, and acquaintance. On top of that, there’s always being there for students, which all make life go by so quickly. After 9-11, I sometimes just wish I could spend more time smelling the roses (puts down violin).

I had a great weekend first enjoying our Players’ Evening of Performance which was an absolute riot, and later in New York , my fraternity celebrated their 20 anniversary, and I’d like to thank the leadership for the nicest event of my life. Speaking of greeks, I have yet to congratulate the new Executive Board of the IFC. Mr. John Muller, you are doing an incredible job as president and I tip my hat to you and the IFC.

The graduate tuition policy was discussed at the Board Meeting this past weekend. I passed on some recommendations made by the Graduate Council to the President and the Board. The critical action item in the entire recommendation was doing an analysis of each school to customize the plans for each of them over the next year. Once I know the final decision of the Board, I will share it with you all. I tip my hat to Ayala Cnaan and the entire Graduate Council for their leadership and dedication in formulating each of the recommendations.

As for the commencement policy some students have started a petition to protest the new policy. Posters have appeared around campus asking students to sign the petition. The final time slot is from 11:30 am to 2 pm Thursday in the West Lobby of the Union. E-mail Seval Dulgeroglu at dulges@rpi.edu with the subject line “petition” if you have any further questions. I was told that to date only 20 students have had their petition “to walk” in May turned down. I will keep you all updated.

Last but not least, the award winning Vagina Monologues are coming to RPI! Go to www.VDAYRPI.com for more details. Shows are 4 pm Saturday, March 2 and 7:30 pm Tuesday, March 5 at the RPI Playhouse. Violence against women needs to end, and this show is part of several programs on slate for RPI that highlight that need.

Have a great week all and please, as we all get so busy and head into the pre-spring break rush, take time to breathe and enjoy this bumpy burro ride we call life.
