To the Editor:
It sure would be great if more students got involved in WRPI! Any student who goes through the training can get a show, but spinning discs is only one of the opportunities—probably not even the best one.
The club’s all-student executive committee runs a 10,000 watt radio station with an annual budget in excess of $50,000 and coordinates a staff of nearly 100 volunteers. An audience spread over three states depends on WRPI’s eclectic mixture of music, sports, news, and public affairs programming. WRPI was one of Rensselaer’s best examples of Communiversity long before President Jackson introduced the word for it!
In a media environment rich with college stations, ours consistently makes Metroland’s "Best of" list in several categories. You might have to think outside of the box to appreciate it, but if you make the effort you’ll see that at WRPI students are building community through technology. Come to the club meeting in CII 4050 on Sunday, November 4 at 4 pm. Why not change the world?
