I hope that all of you enjoyed our three-day weekend, getting plenty of rest and relaxation with the first week of classes behind us.
If you are a hockey fan and want to get season tickets, be sure to join in on all the fun of Hockey Line! The clock is hanging outside of the Rensselaer Union, the countdown has begun, and groups have started lining up. The tradition continues each year as the most die-hard RPI hockey fans camp outside of the Union to get their choice of seats for the 2014–2015 hockey season. Get a group of friends, fill out a registration form, get in line, and enjoy a week of cookouts, games, performances, and more while you wait for the ticket sales to begin. The line will march from the Rensselaer Union to the Houston Field House to begin ticket sales on Tuesday, September 9 after a cookout hosted by the Red Army. Once tickets have been purchased, there will be an open skate with free rentals, music, and food given out by the players. If you want to join in the fun, the Hockey Line Guide can be easily found on the Hockey Line event page on Facebook or at http://bit.ly/hockeyline. It contains the rules and the registration form needed for a group to participate.
Attention club officers! On September 20, there will be a Student Officer Summit open to all student clubs and organizations, with space for up to three members from each club to attend. This will be a one-day workshop with sessions on finance, marketing, recruitment/retention, collaboration, professional development, and more. Co-sponsored by the Rensselaer Union, Greek life, and the Archer Center, this summit will offer many different workshops to help our student officers to become even better leaders on campus, grow their clubs/organizations, and get to know each other a little better. Information on registering can be found in the Union Administration Office and questions can be directed to RPIUnion@rpi.edu. I hope to see you there!
Finally, the search is winding down for the Class of 2018 Union Executive Board Representative; applications are due at 11:59 pm on Friday, September 5. If you are interested in applying, reach out to me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org so I can send you an application. I am looking for a freshman who is passionate about RPI, who wants to learn about the Rensselaer Union, and help the E-Board make every student’s time here as great as it can be. Feel free to email me or stop by my office hours in the Student Government Suite (Wednesday 8:30–11:30 am), with any questions, if you want to get more involved, whether it be on the Executive Board, a committee, or if you just want to learn a little about how students can make a difference here on campus.
Have a great week!
