No. 18 Engineers batter Bard for ninth win
Five Engineers scored double-digit points in their 82-44 win over the Bard Raptors. The victory brings Rensselaer’s season record to 9-1, 3-0 in the Liberty League.
After taking an early 6-4 lead, RPI went on an eight-point run to go up by 10. Four scoreless minutes later, the Raptors thinned the Engineers’ lead down to five points with over seven minutes left in the first half. RPI rallied back to take a 34-21 lead heading into halftime.
The two teams drifted apart in the second half. The Engineers heated up as their field goal percentage rose from 40 to 57.58, while the Raptors’ dropped from 38.10 to 31.25. Firing on all cylinders, RPI racked up 48 points in the second half to defeat the Raptors by 38.
Avery Eugster led the Engineers in scoring with 18 points, while Jonny Angbazo, Brian Kelly, Dom Black, and Chuck Clemons all reached double digits. RPI dominated the glass on both ends of the court with Eugster grabbing six offensive rebounds and Angbazo cleaning up with six defensive boards.
