Engineers fall to Huskies in Family Weekend game
In the first home game of the season, the Rensselaer Engineers lost to the University of Connecticut Huskies with a final score of 2‒5. The Engineers entered the third period trailing 0‒4, with goals scored by UConn players Brian Rigali, Harrison Rees, and Marc Gatcomb. In the final period, however, freshman Simon Kjellberg scored on a power play to put RPI on the scoreboard—with assists from Chase Zieky ’20 and Ottoville Leppänen ’22. UConn player Ruslan Iskhakov scored once more, restoring the Huskies’ four-point lead. The Engineers scored on another power play with 8 minutes left, bringing the final score of the game to 2‒5, the final goal made by Patrick Polino ’20.
