Summin’ up
New England 24, Baltimore 3—Just when Kyle Boller was starting to pick it up, he rolls a gutter ball. Without the help of running back Jamal Lewis, the Ravens’ offense stalled in the slippery weather. The Patriots’ offense had trouble in the mud as well, but managed to get enough points for the defense to finish it off. Jarvis Green returned a Boller fumble for a touchdown to seal this game.
Buffalo 38, Seattle 9—The Seahawks aren’t soaring high these days. Willis McGahee ran over the Seahawks’ defense for 110 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The Buffalos’ defense held the NFL’s leading rusher, Shaun Alexander, to 39 yards and kept Matt Hasselbeck from finding his rhythm.
Cincinnati 58, Cleveland 48—The scoreboard was swinging in this Ohio shootout. Unfortunately, a recount won’t do any good for the Browns. Both defenses seemed to disappear in the second half, as both teams lit up the scoreboard. Rudi Johnson ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns to help keep the Bengals’ offense balanced. Kelly Holcomb threw for over 400 yards and five touchdowns, but threw a crucial interception that was returned for a touchdown to end any hopes of coming back.
Peyton Manning kept up his record breaking pace throwing for six touchdowns as the Colts made turkeys of the Lions, with a score of 41-9.
Minnesota welcomed Randy Moss’ return against fellow Marshall alum and Jaguar Byron Leftwich to go on to a 27-16 victory.
San Diego and Drew Brees keep showing they are for real with a 34-31 win over the Chiefs.
Philadelphia clinched its playoff spot with a 27-6 drubbing of Eli Manning and the Giants.
Michael Vick was his usual self, darting around and making plays to lead Atlanta over New Orleans 24-21.
Miami won 24-17 over San Francisco, but probably lost the battle for the first draft pick of the 2005 draft.
Kerry Collins led Oakland over Denver 25-24 in a snowy upset.
Lookin’ Ahead
Green Bay at Philadelphia—Brett Favre, coming off his 200th straight regular season start, gets a chance to burst Terrell Owens’ and the Eagles’ bubble.
Denver at San Diego—Denver looks to bounce back from their loss to Oakland in this match up for the AFC West division. They’ll have a hard time against the rolling Chargers.
Fantasy Watch
Stud of the Week
Jerry Porter—Porter was Kerry Collins’ favorite target in the thin air of Denver. Porter beat Pro-Bowler Champ Bailey for six receptions, 135 yards, and three touchdowns to help upset the Broncos.
Dud of the Week
Martin Gramatica—Once known as “Automatica” for his consistent clutch kicking, Gramatica wasn’t doing any field goal celebrations this week. Gramatica missed all three field goals, including one blocked, losing the game for the Buccaneers.
Burnin’ Up
Corey Dillon—The Patriots haven’t relied on their running game normally, but Dillon is showing them why they should. Dillon averaged 121 yards in the month of November and has scored four touchdowns.
Ice Cold
Joey Harrington—After a strong start, Harrington played poorly the last month as the Lions are mired in a five game losing streak. Harrington has only thrown for two touchdowns to go with his three interceptions this month. The Lions need Harrington to step up against Arizona this week if they want to break their slump.
Under the Radar
Julius Jones—Jones showed some nifty moves Thanksgiving Day. Jones rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns as the featured back in Dallas. If you need a running back, pick him up quickly or else you may have nothing to be thankful for.
