Senior men’s swim team captain Ben Fell traveled to Atlanta this past week to represent his team at the NCAA National Championship meet hosted by Emory. Fell had previously been to the championships during his sophomore and junior years and earned three honorable mention All-American distinctions in his past appearances at nationals.
This past week he earned the crowning achievement of his swimming career by finishing seventh at nationals in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.62 in the finals. His morning qualifying time in the preliminaries for the same event was 1:40.85. The seventh place finish earned Fell All-American honors.
In addition to his All-American honors in the 200 yard freestyle, Fell also swam in the 100 yard freestyle and the 50 yard free. Fell took 21st in the nation in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 46.75 and 33rd in the nation in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.64. He is now joining the rest of the team in celebrating the end of a successful swim season.
