Three members of the women’s swimming and diving team traveled to Atlanta during spring break to compet in the NCAA Division III National Championships. Swimmers Allison Geer ’03, Meghan Hartman ’04 and diver Melissa Hershey ’05 represented the team; all three came home with All-American honors.

Geer, a senior in her third straight trip to the national championship meet, finished ninth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.51 which earned her an All-American Honor; she had previously earned three All-American distinctions in her prior trips to nationals. Geer also took 20th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.56 and tied for 21st in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.61.

Hershey, a sophomore, had a fantastic performance at her first national championship meet, as she finished 16th in the three-meter diving event and earned All-American Honorable Mention with a score of 343.15. Hershey also finished 20th in the one meter event with a score of 279.95.

Hartman, a junior, earned two All-American honors, one from a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:07.45, the second year in a row she has placed sixth in the event. She added to her standout performance with a second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:29.45. The men’s team will be sending their national qualifiers to Atlanta this week.
