The RPI Wrestling Club finished its dual meet season Sunday with matches against Niagara County Community College, SUNY Albany, and Adirondack Community College. The team went 1-2 at the meet. RPI pounded Northeast Conference rival SUNY Albany 30-12 with key decisions by Kurt Munz (149 lbs.) and Bryan Sullivan (165 lbs.) In a loss to a tough NCCC (No. 14 NJCAA) team, Ben Meyer (174 lbs.) picked up an exciting win in overtime.
The last bout of the day pitted RPI against a game ACC squad. Unfortunately, RPI fell by a score of 29-25. Javin Watson scored a big pin for the Redhawks at 285 lbs.
Sunday was also senior day for the Red Hawks. The graduating seniors honored were Bryan Sullivan and club president Mike Sell. Also honored was graduate student Jon Papas.
The Wrestling Club will next travel to Bryant College, RI on Saturday for their Groundhog Day Tournament.
