The women’s lacrosse team split their North Country trip this past weekend, falling to St. Lawrence 14-6 on Friday, but rallying from a 4-1 halftime deficit to beat Clarkson 7-5 in overtime on Saturday.
The Saints rolled over the Red Hawks, scoring five times in the first 12 minutes. RPI’s only goal of the first half came from Katie Speanburg roughly halfway through the period. St. Lawrence led 10-1 at halftime and coasted to an easy victory.
Saturday’s game appeared to be going the same way. The Golden Knights were ahead 5-2 early in the second half, but RPI answered with three straight goals, with Ann Larsen tying the match with just over nine minutes remaining in regulation. Mary Roy put the Red Hawks ahead for good with 1:45 remaining in overtime, and Larsen notched a goal as time expired for the final margin.
Rensselaer closes out its season this weekend, hosting William Smith on Friday at 4 pm and Hamilton on Saturday at 2 pm.
